If it wasn't our club finances falling apart again, that would be a fairly funny episode.

Especially when they sold the rest of the shirts with some huge thick claret iron-on over top.

XL has to be the worst ever. Especially when you see a fat cunt wearing it.

Someone told me recently on here they would not use the VPN I use because they sponsor Liverpool (I think). I was unaware.

I remember a few years ago someone in OLAS said they'd never get an Vodafone phone contract cos they sponsored ManU or something.

I will take a look at what the club sponsors, when I would not have before.

A lot of them have been on the edge of dodgy or not what I wanted but it got me to look. I don't have a problem with being advertised to: it is like any bias, you just need to account for it.

My brother in law used to work at a Ford dealership so unfortunately we all had Fords. The way things work in life sometimes.

Many years ago, I took out an AVCO loan to buy a Marshall Amp.

It felt like I was doing my bit for the Club

Part of my point is that some of the best advertising is the stuff we don't know influences us.

Re: A general questions thread.
I should also point out that sponsored shirts is why I'll never buy an official shirt again.

Retro is the way forward, should I please. Who wants to be a walking billboard ??

Debs - I'm entering a brand-name minefield here, but Budweiser.

Most important to get Czech, not US Budweiser.

Re: A general questions thread.
I know Canada, of course advertising is good. Advertising is kinda necessary.

Just seems a strange thing to happen on football shirts. Never influenced me in any way.

I recall a few. Leicester City "King Power". Still have no idea what is! Is it an energy company?

No one is ever affected by advertising.

And yet advertising has been around for hundreds of years of trial and error on consumers and continues to become more prevalent and grow by billions each year.

(At least we are not at the continental or other sport level of shirt coverage. A lot of North American sports jerseys are mercifully clean but then you get commercials of course.)

Re: A general questions thread.
@Tomsdad.

Is ANY football shirt sponsorship even effective? I can recall that row about some finance company on WHUFC sleeves. Still can't remember the company.

Chelsea's tyre firm? No ta. I generally just order Goodyear because I am old fashioned.

Betting companies? I don't bet. And those companies can ALL fuck off.

I do recognise Chevrolet on the Mancs'. Purely because it's a terrible shirt.

The money is useful to clubs of all sizes, but it seems utterly pointless from the investment firm. Advertisement is a weird game.
